With making my sliding door asset variations I wanted to test that I have the right size but also to see if I remember how to export the assets from Maya to Unreal. As again in one of the workshop sessions we briefly covered the topic of exporting assets, but I don’t remember that much except changing the vertical from a Y to a Z. My main worry is the scale of my assets as I want to get them right the first time as if not I am going to waste my time with re adjusting them. So, with exporting them I had a couple of problems as when exporting them I forgot to tick off the other features such as animations, sound etc. Which I only need the mesh and the materials, so I went back to Maya export and removed the other options. From this it solved my issue of excess files which aren’t needed however another problem with importing the assets in was that one of my main worries popped up which is the scale. As they came out smaller than I expected which I could enlarge in Unreal, but I want to be professional with my work. So, to improve from this I am going to go back into Maya and adjust the scale of my assets.
