With making my game I have been focusing quite a lot of my time on my game’s mechanics. As I find that if I sort my mechanics out first then it will set my game up ready for me to design the level and some assets. So, I have gone for a futuristic door as I want to create a sliding door for my game. However, I was stuck on the idea of the sliding door as I don’t know if I should go for a standard door or a sliding door. This resulted in me researching into how I could create a sliding door which doesn’t look to difficult. So, I went with the sliding door which I am going to try out the sliding door in my spare time as it’s the same as a regular door however you implement an animation blueprint. So, it shouldn’t be too difficult to create. With the sliding door feature sorted another issue popped up with is should it be a single or double door. Resulting in me being more thoughtful of my design for my door as I don’t want to go too far with one design and end up scrapping that idea. So, to solve this I simply used this session to experiment around with the design of the doors from the shape of them to their details such as indents and reinforcing the door.
Reflecting back on this session I think it went rather well as it making me think about the design and theme of my game but also playing around with the what kind of assets I want to include in my game. But also, what affects they might have on the game in the means of game play or the aesthetics of the game. Even though the prototype game I am making won’t be visually pleasing, but it will at least give the player a sense of context of what the game is going to be about.
