Art test: Character Production part 5

Resuming from last session I moved onto texturing my UV map. With importing over the UV map into photoshop I simply unlocked the UV layer and set it to difference. From this, I then set the background grey for the main sections of the body such as the joint. With the texturing of the character it was rather easy however I did run into problems with texturing the UV map. As the main problem is that with automatic UV mapping it makes it hard to tell what section links up to the character. To solve this, I had Maya open to check where the UV sections go on my character. To improve off this in the future I could have manually UV mapped the asset making it easier for me to understand.

Another issue with designing my character is its colour scheme as I had no idea what colour scheme would work best for my character. So, to solve this I just experimented with different colour schemes to see which ones work best. With my character I wanted to go with a military theme, but this colour scheme looks fairly similar to master chief. Which I have noticed my character looks like master chief, but I have added my own inspiration into my characters design. Overall my Colour scheme for my character is black, red and grey. As I feel like this colour combination works the best out of the selection.
