Carrying on from the weekend session, this weeks workshop session I have managed to connect my character together, UV mapping and learnt new methods of using symmetry being more efficient than my current methods. As with the connecting of the arms to the body I simply used the connect tool for both items and target weld the vertexes together making it into one object. With this method I will keep this in mind for future projects as its really useful to connect objects together. Another useful method I learnt for getting my character symmetrical is cutting my character in half down the middle. As luckily I had an edge line down the centre of my character Which I simply duplicate a rotate. Which I then connected both objects.
For the UV mapping I used the automatic UV mapping tool to give me an idea of how I could UV map my character. Which when working on it later I couldn’t undo it due to deleting the history of the object. However it does save me time allowing me to work more on my texturing. Even though its not really professional to use this method. So in future project I will use different methods. However overall I think that this sessions work went rather well as I’ve managed to complete my character and got the UV map done. So I’ve only got the textures to do which allows me to have some spare time to sort out any issues.
