Art test: Character Production part 3

Carrying on from this week’s workshop session over the weekend I carried on finalising the arm, legs, chest and started on the head of my character. With the issue of having 1,500 polygon limit, I managed to find a way to reduce the excess polygons as going through all the tools. I managed to find a tool called the delete edge/vertex which allowed me to delete excess edges solving my issue of too many polygons. To use this, I simply select the edges to remove and it would delete the edges and join up the polygons. Solving my major issue of reducing the polygons which will allow me to have more to work with my character. Which this tool is very useful which I will keep this tool in the future as its going to be useful if I need to remove any excess polygons. With the rest of the character it was simply finalising the legs, chest, arm and head. However, another issue I have come across is connecting the arms and head.

Overall looking back on this session, I think it went rather well as I learnt a new tool to reduce the number of polygons which is a life saver allowing me to improve upon my character. One aspect I had issue with my character is the hands as I’ve managed to make a basic hand. But it hardly has any individual fingers which is what I am going to work with due to the limit on the polygons. Overall it still looks alright if at the end of my characters production and I still have a decent number of polygons then I could add individual fingers. But with the way I am going with the polygons then I won’t have enough for the fingers. So, I am going to make do with what I have got.
