
For my character analysis I have chosen Master Chief from the halo game franchise. As he is my favourite video game character due to his backstory of his lore. The role that the game wants Master Chief to do is that he is a one-man army fighting against all odds to save humanity from extinction. With this you explore the effects of master chief being pushed to his limits to save humanity from multiple alien races.
From looking at Master Chiefs character design all I can find that might have influenced its design on his design. As Master Chiefs character design reminds me of Doom guy from doom the video game, in the terms of armour and his use in the game as they both play as a one-man army taking on endless amounts of enemies. I even researched into this matter which I found it difficult to find any reliable sources of info on if master chief was influenced. All I found was a wiki article saying that elements of the master chief character are similar to a character from a book called Starhammer by Christopher Rowley. I even looked into the books plot which does show some aspects similar to the game in the means of the games lore, but I don’t think its influencing enough to affect the design of Master Chief.
Looking into the design of the character in its aesthetic quality to fulfil the games need. As I find that aesthetic qualities of master chiefs design fulfil that game as it gives you a full sense of master chief personality. Even the design of master chief gives you a meaningful player experience as it allows you to become the ultimate soldier being a one-man army going through hordes of enemies. With his insane armour and his arsenal of weaponry making him un killable. Giving the player the enjoyable feeling of being invincible and the courage to take on any one that stands in their way.
