With the first task I have been tasked with creating a scene in the style of polygonal art. With this scene I have free reign on what it could be which I have a couple of ideas in mind. With the ideas I have got I need to narrow them down, to solve this I have done some research on some themes to give me inspiration. With the research I have gathered some images, I found some themes that I didn’t think of such as space and medieval. This keeps me open minded with what I can choose. As usually I go for a theme around war mainly the first and second world war. So, I might go for something different so that I can explore other themes. Whilst gathering these images, I found a lot of low poly scenes based around typical scenes e.g. light houses, windmills and camping. Which look good but I want to create something different to what’s out there already.
Also, I have found some rather useful images in how I could make assets and experiment/improve. Especially vegetation as I want don’t want to go with a simple tree shape when I could have variations of trees. Overall this research has narrowed down the themes to WW1 and WW2. Because its completely different to what is out there. if it doesn’t work out I change the theme and adapt it. Another reason for my choice is my interest in military history which has led me to make model kits and dioramas in my spare time as a hobby. Which cover a range of periods from the WW1, WW2 and the Cold War. Example of some of my model kits and diorama :
So my idea for my scene is to make a diorama of the trenches with a cut away scene where it shows some of the dugouts. I got this idea from this image of a diorama online. This will allow me to combine a variety of shots for my scene. As that will incorporate all the scenes of the first world war from the trenches, dugouts and No man’s land.
