With having some issues with my level design, I took a break and went back to making some of my game’s assets. So, I went back to making my key cards as I want to sort out my designs and develop them even further. So that I can choose on for my game as I want to have simple design so that the player can understand its purpose but also that it’s a prototype design for my game. With making the variations of the key cards was very interesting as it allowed me to think about if the player understand its purpose and does it fit in with the theme of my game. With making the key cards it made me think about the ways I could get the player to understand what the key is and how I can get their attention to it. So, my main idea was using bold colours to grab the players attention which I went with the red, but I do think I could have played around with more of the colours.
In the end I went with a swipe key card as its different to other key cards out there in video games. With this done I deleted the history, set its position to zero and exported it over to the unreal engine. Which I simply changed the mesh of my key to my key card. The only issue I had when importing it over was the size of the key card as I forgot to adjust the grid size. To solve this issue, I simply readjust the grid size and scale the key cards to the right scale. Looking back on this the only things I would improve on with making them is more variations and the colour scheme.
