Indie Game Workshop session: Moving platforms and Door animations

With this workshop session I learnt how to make moving platforms, one-way door/platform and line tracing trigger boxes. Which is ideal for my game as its based around a problem solving to escaping the levels in a lab as you play as a lab rat/animal. With making the moving platforms it was rather simple and understandable as I understood what is going on within the blueprint from getting the location of where Point A to B and the time line for how it affects the platforms movements. With making the moving platform I found it rather useful learning new tools especially the timeline as it’s a useful tool with animations especially with making a sliding door in my game. As I still I have yet to make the sliding door and the door frame. So, I aim to make the sliding door over the beginning of the first week of the Easter holiday. As it will set me up to work on my game and set the ball rolling for working on my game over the Easter holidays. Also, with the Time line tool I want to experiment around with it as I did see a bit of what other uses I could use for it. But I want to see what I could do with it and how I could incorporate it into my game.

Another Blueprint I got learn is a one-way platform which is simply a platform that you can jump through the bottom of the platform and stand on top of it. Which again this might be useful for my game as a means for a one-way door, so the player doesn’t go back on themselves. Which is rather useful as it stops the player going back on themselves and getting lost which might be useful for my game, but it mainly depends on my games level design. As still have yet to fully block out a design for the level but I do have a rough idea of how my level might be laid out. Which is another target I set myself for the first week of Easter holidays. With making the one-way platform it was rather simple as I thought it was going to be difficult to make the character to move through the platform. As it was simply adding a trigger box so that once the player crosses it. The platform changes its collision. Which makes me wonder what else I could do with this blueprint.
