With this week being the first character test workshop session, I carried on with the work from the day before. Carrying on with the foot and the lower leg which I slowly worked up the body creating the upper leg, waist chest and an arm. One problem I came across is the waist as I had no Idea of how I can create the waste. So, looking into the tools that were available to me I found the symmetry tool that allowed me to duplicate the other leg and even link them together allowing me to create the waist and work from there. Following this I worked on the chest which is taking shape, but I feel like it’s not really working so I might redo it, but I feel like I am getting there with my character. As starting this art test, I felt like I wouldn’t be able to make my character as I would end up being stuck on how I should create my character and not looking right.
With the arm I had no idea of how I should start it off, so I tried using a cube to build up the shape of the arm which looks alright, but it was just to blocky. Which I could have worked with, but I wouldn’t have fit in with my characters design. So, I used a cylinder and reduces the polygons to fit in with the design of my character. Which from there I just extruded it building up the arm from the top to bottom. This then brought up my next set of issues my main one being how could I create the hand and how much detail should I go into it. As I could add individual fingers, but I feel like it would take up too much of my polycount. When it could be used for more useful for other parts of my character
Reflecting back on this session work I feel like I have progressed better than I thought. As I imagined that I would end up getting stuck on my characters design and getting stressed out on a section of my character. However, I do feel like I am going to have issues with the polygon count but at least it gives me an idea of how far I should add to my character.
