With this week it has been more productive unlike the weeks before. As I have managed to achieve a lot of my targets this week mainly polishing, texturing and exporting most of my assets for the game. There are still some assets left that I am either reworking from scratch or polishing and texturing. The reason for why I am reworking some of the assets is that they look rather boring and plain. So by doing this it will improve the aesthetics of the game but also adds more character to the assets. With this week I definitely feel like my motivation is slowly improving week by week. This is mainly due to giving myself achievable targets and breaking up my workload into smaller areas. The reason for this is that it has improved my workflow, making it more bearable to work on but also allows me to make my targets more achievable. By doing this it has improved my motivation to carry on with the game but also give me the feeling that this unit is achievable especially with the marking re-work.
Another method of motivating myself is reminding myself about how long I’ve got till hand in. As it allows me to workout my pacing of my targets and where I should be at with my work and the game. But this week has been a lot better in the means of production, due to reorganising myself which in turn has improved my motivation to try my best to complete this unit during these unforeseen circumstances. As I have been worrying a lot about how this has affected the unit about in finishing my work and the quality of my work. But on top of this I have been worrying about my future in the means of my time at university and how it would impact my chances of getting a job in the industry. However now I am going to just focus on this unit and when its complete I can slowly work out how to sort out the rest of my problems. With this mind set it feels like this unit is achievable as I am more focused on doing my best to try and finish it.
Overall with my work for this week I hardly had any issues with my assets expect for a few in which some I have talked about reworking some of the assets from scratch. Due to how they looked rather plain and hardly had any features that popped out. These assets were mainly the buildings and houses, to solve this I reworked them by going back to my references images and incorporating some of the architectural features and styles such as balconies and improved windows. To give more character to the buildings making them different from one and other but also draw the players attention to them to work out where they are set in the game. With one of the houses I started from scratch deleting the old one just because it wasn’t worth trying to improve the old one. By doing this turned out to be better as it allows me to rethink the style of the house making it different from the other house I have made. But anyway this week has been an improvement from the previous ones.
