Game: Theme and Map Design

With the change of mind for my game idea I have gone for a parkour game which I talked about in my previous blog post. So, the plan for my game is that the player starts off in a training level to play around with the movement mechanics. Which will allow the player to familiarize themselves with the controls which you can then move onto an actual level to put yourself to the test. As I find that competitive games work well as your trying to push yourself to beat your target. An idea for my game is for the actual level I could implement a timer and even push myself to make a scoreboard. Overall, I am really happy with the way I am going with my idea as I feel like this is more achievable than my original idea. As I have only a little experience with games engines in the mean of creating scenes and landscapes. Whilst I come up with working on my games idea I am going to look into features/mechanics that I could add to my game.

Here’s a couple of images to describe where I might go with my games design

Map Design

With creating my game based around parkour I want to design a level that shows off all the mechanics that I have implemented into the game. So, my idea is to create a training level where the player can practice and experiment with the controls and mechanics. With this idea in mind I am going to break the level up in sections, so you will have the starting area as a lab testing room where the player can learn the controls. With the starting room it will be joined to other rooms that will display the games mechanics.
