With what I have learnt from this week’s workshop session of Maya with advanced modelling with subdivision I wanted to put what I have learnt to use. So that I can practice and improve my methods and tools. As I find that practicing these skills/tools will allow me to remember these but also to experiment and be more efficient with them. So, I have decided to create a small little project to put my skills and tools to use, so I have decided to create a Tiger 1 tank. The reason for why I have chosen to make a Tiger 1 tank is that one of my major interests is military history which leads me onto one of my hobbies making model kits of military vehicles.
With making this I have only made the bottom of the hull, the barrel and a section of the turret which has turned out alright. I do want to carry on with this in my spare time as over this project I want to put what I have learnt over this unit into it to experiment and improve. With making this asset I have realized an issue with it as what it’s based on as the Tiger 1 tank is an Iconic WW2 German tank which can be associated with the Nazis. However, I am making this vehicle as I am only interested in the vehicle. I am saying this as people can take this the wrong way. To solve this, I can balance this out with making some allied tanks such as the M4 Sherman, Cromwell etc. This will allow me to cover all different tanks in general from different countries to show the diversity in all the different tanks from countries to eras. With this I can set myself future task in my spare time to improve over time.
