Looking back on this unit through all of the 3 tasks I think that I’ve done the best I can as I have had little experience of concept art before this course. With my first task I think that it turned out well for my first attempt at concept art. As it allowed me to explore and experiment with these methods. However, I felt like I could have pushed myself to produce more with work. But I was just getting use to this course and what was expect from us. As I find that with my work I like to perfect my work which took up a lot of my time trying to perfect my work which I know it’s more about creating as much work as possible. Another issue that I have is comparing my work to other students and online work. Which really doesn’t help me as I worry about how my work looks compared to others. When really, I am doing well for my first experience of concept art. However, over the course of this unit I am becoming more confident with my work as I am getting use to the work.
Overall, I think that I did quite well with my container iterations as it allowed me to experiment with my ideas. However, to improve my work I felt like I could have pushed myself to create more variations for the container. To improve on my work, I wish I could have experimented more with the containers colour and shading making it more realistic. However, I like the style of the container in a cartoon style.
With the second task I think that I was starting to get into the way of things with developing concept art and to develop my work skills. Looking backing on the outcomes of the second task come out rather well for my bridge iterations as it allowed me to experiment more in the ways on how I could experiment with different styles and software. As using Alchemy allowed me to experiment with my current designs. To improve my work, I feel like I could have experimented more with the silhouettes and iterations as I feel like I could have made more variations in my designs as some of them I wish I could have played around with the styles. For the outcome for this task is my bridge insitu which has turned out alright although I think I could improve it more in the ways of blending the colours but it’s a good attempt for my first insitu piece.
Looking back on my most recent task of my character I think that it went well as I managed to produce a wide range of variations for the characters. As from the past tasks I found that I wasn’t producing enough work. To improve some of my work is that with my silhouettes I wish I could have experimented more with different characters in the story. As I focused too much on the woodcutter and the huntsmen when really, I could have experimented with the other characters such as the villagers, badger etc. Another piece of work I want to improve is the model sheet as I wanted to add more detail to my character such as the folds in the fabric which at the time I was starting to worry about the time I had left. With the outcome for the third task is my character insitu which turned out better than expect as at the start of it looked terrible but the longer I spent on it the better it got. The only issue I had with it was the character as the positioning of the character and its portions didn’t look right. Which I did try to solve but, in the end, I had to change my characters position to him leaning against the tree. To improve on this outcome, I would like to add more textures to the insitu such as the characters clothing, the bark on the trees etc.
